At Paradise Dental, we use tooth colored (composite) fillings to repair teeth that are affected by decay, cracks, fractures, etc. unless a crown required for protection. The decayed portion of the tooth will be removed then filled with a composite filling.

Because composite fillings are tooth colored, are more aesthetic, and allow for removal of less tooth structure, they are preferred over amalgams.

How are Composite Fillings Placed?
Composite fillings are placed in one appointment. Once the tooth is numb, Dr. Nadia will remove any decay. The space will then be thoroughly cleaned and carefully prepared before the new filling is placed. If the decay was near the nerve of the tooth, a special medication will be applied for added protection and to decrease post-treatment sensitivity. The composite filling will then be precisely placed, shaped, and polished, restoring your tooth to its beautiful new shape and function.
It’s normal to experience sensitivity to hot and cold when composite fillings are first placed. This will subside shortly after your tooth acclimates to the new filling.
